Understanding Transaction Fees

Last updated March 11, 2026

When guests pay online through Stripe, two types of fees apply: the Hookset platform fee and Stripe's processing fee.

Hookset Platform Fee

Hookset charges a percentage-based platform fee on each online transaction. The rate depends on your plan:

| Plan | Platform Fee | |------|-------------| | Free | 2.0% | | Pro ($149/mo) | 1.0% | | Lodge ($299/mo) | 0.5% |

The platform fee is calculated on the pre-tax payment amount.

Tip: Upgrading your plan lowers your per-transaction fee. If you process significant volume, the savings from a lower fee rate can offset the subscription cost. See Choosing the Right Plan.

Stripe Processing Fees

Stripe charges its own processing fees separately from Hookset's platform fee. These are standard Stripe rates (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction in the US). Stripe fees are deducted from the payout to your bank account.

Hookset does not control or markup Stripe's fees.

Where to See Fee Breakdowns

Fee details are visible in your Stripe Dashboard (dashboard.stripe.com) under each transaction. Hookset shows the gross payment amount on the booking detail page. The net amount after fees appears in your Stripe payout reports.

Offline Payments

Payments recorded manually (cash, check, wire) do not incur any Hookset platform fee or Stripe processing fee. These are recorded for bookkeeping purposes only.
